Dinkar P. Srivastava is a former Indian diplomat. He served in the Ministry of External Affairs and was posted to Pakistan, the United States and the European Union. As Director/Joint Secretary, UN Political Division in the Ministry of External Affairs, he was part of India's successful lobbying efforts to prevent internationalization of the Jammu and Kashmir issue. In his long career he has dealt with human rights, terrorism, Indian candidature for permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council, Pokhran II nuclear tests and the Kargil conflict. Srivastava was a member of the Indian delegation to the World Conference of Human Rights. He was involved in the drafting of the National Human Rights Commission statute. He was also an adviser to the Indian delegation to the International Court of Justice in the case of the shooting down of the Pakistani spy plane Atlantique. As India's ambassador to Iran, he negotiated the MOU for Indian participation in Chabahar Port. He is the author of Forgotten Kashmir: The Other Side of the Line of Control.
