মো. শহীদুল হক

Md. Shahidul Haque was born on November 3, 1956, in Dari Bhakoadi, Gazipur (now a district) in Bangladesh. Struck by polio at age three, and later injured during the Liberation War, he grew up with limited mobility but unlimited resolve. After studying Public Administration at Dhaka University, he joined Janata Bank in 1984. Witnessing the plight of disabled people after the 1989 tornado and 1991 cyclone changed his life’s course. He left banking to found SARPV (Social Assistance and Rehabilitation for the Physically Vulnerable), dedicating himself to empowering the marginalized. A co-founder of National Forum of Organizations Working with the Disabled (NFOWD) and an Ashoka Fellow (1992), Shahidul spent his life proving that disability is not a barrier itself but a positivity towards life and empathy can inspire and empower a remarkable transformation.
