I wrote my first book on Rumi’s poems called “A Spiritual Journey to the Land of Love: 40 Love Poems of Jalaluddin Rumi” back in 2012. It was a short book, less than 50 pages. But, to my surprise, the book received a warm welcome from Rumi’s fans and was sold a few thousand copies on Amazon Kindle Store. “An Autumn of Sparkling Love” is my second attempt to translate Rumi’s poems.
"In Your Light"
In Your Light I learn how to love.
In Your beauty I learn how to write poems.
You keep dancing in my heart, though nobody sees You,
And sometimes I, too,
Dance together with You.
And this 'Divine Vision' has become the core of my art.
"A Guesthouse"
A human is like a guesthouse.
Every morning, new guests will appear:
Happiness, sadness, and even badness.
Then sudden realization will come as an unexpected guest.
Welcome and entertain them all,
Although they only bring you sorrow.
Welcome and entertain them all,
Although they cruelly sweep through and empty your house.
Treat each guest respectfully,
For they may all be God's envoy
To fill your house with new amusements.
If you encounter dark thoughts,
Or envy, or some embarrassing prejudices,
Then laugh together with them
And invite them in.
Be thankful to every guest
Who comes to your house,
For they have been sent by Him to be your guides!
"The Door"
For so long,
I've been knocking on Your door
Crying Your name.
When it finally opened,
I was stunned to realize
That all these times
I've been knocking
From inside my own house!
"Drunkenness"
Yesterday, my drunkenness
Took me to the gate of love.
But today,
I did not find the door nor the house.
Last year I had
Two wings:
Hope and fear.
Today, I know nothing
About wings,
Or flying,
Or my lost fear.
"Angels"
One day,
I will die,
Wearing wings,
And feathers,
Like the angels;
Then,
I will fly higher,
Than the angels.
I will become something,
You can never
Imagine!
