God Religion and Science (Hardcover)

The book titled 'God, Religion and Science' written by Prof. Md. Azizur Rahman Laskar is rather interesting. The words 'God', 'Religion' and 'Science' could form the title of three different books. Obviously the canvas of the book is very large one. The author, however, has tried to highlight the connectivities between the subjects conveyed by the three words. Writing from a believer's point of view, the author has pointed out at the very beginning the confusions that exist in many minds about the very existence of God. One reason for the confusion in the minds of many young people is that these people look at the state of affairs of Muslim nations and find out that their standing in science and technology is very poor. This gives them a wrong impression that science is not a strong point of Islam. Nothing can be further from truth than this. While describing the Creation of the Universe, the author has made a reference to verse 21:30 of the Holy Qur'an which may be regarded as a pointer to the Big Bang Theory of Creation; the last part of the verse poses a question "afala yuminun" meaning "Will they still not believe (in the Creator)?". This clearly suggests that the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth has asked people to have faith in Him not by considering the pleasures of Heaven or the punishments in the Hell but by pointing to a hard scientific fact - namely the beginning of the Universe. Thus Science is indeed the strongest point of Islam. The purpose of science is to seek the truth existing in what is called as nature. On the other hand, it has been proclaimed in the Holy Qur'an that this Book has been revealed in truth, the Holy Prophet of Islam has been sent with truth.
