Falling in love is as delightful as there is nothing else, just as there is nothing more painful than a breakup. Wollongong is such a city where I have witnessed the creation of hundreds of new relationships every day and seen many separations. Observing a friend and his girlfriend, they seemed like the perfect couple, always holding each other’s hands. However, they abruptly parted ways. When I inquired about the reason behind their breakup, my friend explained that his girlfriend had relocated to Sydney, rendering the maintenance of their long-distance relationship unfeasible. In my view, distance is irrelevant—be it long or short—for love is about providing mutual support. Love embodies friendship.
