This book is an objective, multi-disciplinary and comprehensive study of the present-day Muslim World, perhaps the first of its kind undertaken anywhere in the world. The focus of the study is the Muslim World in the first quarter of the 21^st century but set in the broad historical perspective.

The prime objective of the book was to delineate the major problems facing the Muslim people of the World today and to suggest ways out of these. The Muslim World now consists of about 54/55 independent Muslim-majority countries, a number of occupied/unrecognised Muslim territories and a considerable number of Muslims living in the non-Muslim majority countries and a large number of non-Muslims living in the Muslim majority countries.

The subject-matter of this study thus includes an objective appraisal of the Muslim World’s achievements and failures and strengths and weaknesses, relating to politics and governance, bilateral relations, economy, environment, multi-lateral cooperation among themselves, sectarian divides, progress of gender justice and child rights.

In every aspect, the standard set was the expectations from the Muslims, according to the tenets of the Quran and the Sunnah, and what actually obtained on the ground. There would also to be a critical understanding of Islamic history and the lessons learnt from it.
