In this book readers will learn about people who came from Barisal in the southwest of Bangladesh to Sylhet in the northeast to work in the tea gardens. The book discusses the conditions which led to their migration after the partition of the Indian sub-continent and following the War for Independence in Bangladesh. It describes the life of the community through the words and experiences of those who live there. It discusses present day links between the community in Sylhet and their extended family members in Barisal, especially by describing a visit that was made to Barisal by ten people from the tea garden in Sylhet in 2023.

Finally, the book discusses some of the similarities and differences between the circumstances and expe-riences of people from Barisal living in Sylhet and people from Sylhet living in and around 'Bangla Town' in East London, United Kingdom.
